Obama's Address to the Nation

There are so many outright lies, contradictions and nonsensical claims in this speech that I'm still sorting them out. There will be more on this later.

From Newsday:

The plan would also require people without basic health insurance to buy it - like states require drivers to purchase car insurance and businesses will be required to subsidize or provide health insurance for employees. Most small businesses, he said, would be exempt.

Obama claimed in his speech that small businesses who do not provide insurance for their employees are significant drivers of health care costs. His plan would require businesses to "chip in" to defray that cost. He goes on to say that 95% of small businesses would be exempt from that requirement.

Did I miss something? If 95% of small businesses are exempt, how bad can the problem be in the first place? And, if the problem really is that bad (it's not), why exempt 95%? How do you contradict yourself in that manner and still expect to be taken seriously?
