A False Sense of Urgency

From WSJ, President Obama on '60 Minutes':

"We're not going to get a better opportunity to solve our health-care issues than we have right now."

What is it about now that provides a better opportunity than any other time? Why can't we see and examine the details of legislation that comprises such a large expenditure?

The rush for now is, as it has been from the outset, to pass a bill before it can be fully examined and the cost, as well as the limitations, fully realized. Why else would legislation that won't go into effect until 2013 need to be signed before Thanksgiving?

Let's not be duped again by the strategies that brought us the bailouts and the stimulus package. It may disappoint Rahm Emmanuel but it would benefit the country to allow this "crisis" to go to waste.
